ADRF Announces UL 2524 Certification for Public Safety Portfolio

Advanced RF Technologies, Inc. (ADRF), a leading provider of in-building public safety and commercial wireless solutions, announces it will receive certification for its Public Safety Repeater Series and ADRF Battery Backup Series on the new UL 2524 Standard, which enforces a new standard for in-building two-way emergency radio communication for Fire and Life safety first responders, by April 2019. With this certification, ADRF will be the first original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to offer "Class A" channelized solutions to meet these new stringent requirements.

"In-building communications system installations are vital to providing solutions that enable public safety first responders the ability to communicate when responding to an emergency incident inside buildings, tunnels and other structures that restrict communications," stated Alan Perdue, Executive Director of the Safer Buildings Coalition. "Therefore, it is imperative that all materials, products and installation methods utilized to enhance public safety in-building communications meet current model codes and standards."

UL 2524 requirements cover products including repeater, transmitter, receiver, signal booster components, remote annunciators and operational consoles, power supply, and battery charging system components to be employed in accordance with the following Model Building and Installation Codes:

  • The Standard for the Installation, Maintenance, and Use of Emergency Services Communication Systems, NFPA 1221
  • National Electrical Code, NFPA 70
  • Fire Code, NFPA 1
  • Life Safety Code, NFPA 101
  • International Fire Code (IFC)

"With twenty years of experience designing and manufacturing code compliant Public Safety solutions, we ensure our products meet or exceed the latest standards of in-building connectivity," says Julie Song, President of ADRF. "As the UL 2524 standard will be required by some jurisdictions as early as this spring, equipment that is both certified and available for sale will enable building owners to meet these new safety and reliability requirements and facilitate their certificate of occupancy."

ADRF will showcase its Public Safety portfolio, as well as its ADXV Series DAS, at the International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) on March 4-8, 2019 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
