About Us
Javier Herrero is the founder and CEO of SmartRF Engineering, a registered design firm providing high quality engineering services to the public safety and wireless industry.
Javier has almost 20 years of experience in the wireless telecommunications industry. Prior to forming his own design firm, he held a number of leadership and technical roles with PCTEL, AT&T, LGC/ADC, and Nextel. Javier managed the engineering services business unit for PCTEL as Vice President of Network Engineering Operations. Under his leadership, his team of 30+ engineers and project managers successfully worked on projects for companies such as Wal-Mart and Walt Disney World, as well as other high-profile sports venues, hotels, and hospitals among others.
On the technical side, Javier has overseen the planning and implementation of hundreds of Distributed Antenna Systems throughout his career. He also served as technical lead within AT&T’s National ASG team setting RF engineering guidelines and standards for DAS and small cells being designed and deployed nationwide. Most recently, he worked in the testing and design of multiple public safety two-way radio communications enhancement systems for new construction within the state of Florida. Some of these venues include: public/private schools, hotels, airports, residential apartment buildings, in addition to other commercial building locations.
