Comba Telecom’s CriticalPoint™ Public Safety Bi-Directional Amplifiers (BDA) and Battery Backup Unit (BBU) Pass UL 2524 Standards
Comba conforms to UL 2524 standards meeting the requirements for public safety 2-way emergency radio communications enhancement systems
(12 August 2019 – Milpitas, CA) – Comba Telecom, Inc. today announced that their Bi-Directional Amplifiers (BDA) product line and Battery Backup Unit (BBU) have been certified to meet the UL 2524 standard for In-building 2-Way Emergency Radio Communications Enhancement Systems.
Comba’s BDAs and BBUs both received UL 2524 compliance separately, but more importantly were also tested and will be listed as a system; meaning system integrators and AHJs can rest assured that when Comba’s units are installed in the field together they fully meet and comply with the UL 2524 standard.
The UL 2524 standard applies to products including repeater, transmitter, receiver, signal booster components, remote annunciators and operational consoles, power supply, and battery charging system components to be employed in accordance with the following Model Building and Installation Codes:
- The Standard for the Installation, Maintenance, and Use of Emergency Services Communication Systems, NFPA 1221
- National Electrical Code, NFPA 70
- Fire Code, NFPA 1
- Life Safety Code, NFPA 101
- International Fire Code (IFC)
The new UL 2524 standard was ratified by ANSI (Approved American National Standard) in October 2018 and has been adopted and slated for enforcement by several Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) around the Country.
